The Plant Emotion Monitor V2

This project is the continuation of APEX, 5 years of integrated circuit design experience later. The entire board is based on the new ESP32-S2 and a custom E-ink display. The device plugs into your plant just like the original APEX, and can connect to your phone to update the plant settings and view the environmental metrics over time.

The device will display a face based on the “health” of the plant, and can also connect to Wi-Fi to show real-time weather readouts. PEM is outfitted with a temperature, LUX, and custom capacitive soil-moisture sensor. It’s battery powered, rechargeable, and completely open-source.

The first version of this integrated board has been assembled and it’s software is currently under-development.

I’m especially proud of this kit because I’ve been planning on building this device since the first APEX was designed in the summer of 2017.
